Third Place was awarded to Allan Linder for the original painting "Getting There" by Contemporary Art Gallery for the 2022 Juried Art Competition Cityscape.
Cityscape is a collection of hand-painted artworks of the big city. Each piece is scanned at a stunning 4k resolution and digitally painted. The digitally enhanced artwork is then animated, 20 to 100 animated cells are stacked, stabilized, and then flattened.
The resulting artwork is a merger of traditional paint with digital paint, printed as a giclée on canvas. Additional acrylic layers are added to it again, giving depth and color to the original image. This systematic process of enhanced prints was created by the artist over many years.
Linder combines real-world artwork with digital compositions that fuse texture from painting on canvas with motion animation and digital paint.
